Addo Elephant National Park

Addo Honorary Rangers to host fun photographic course

The Addo Honorary Rangers will be hosting a photographic course on 31 July 2010 at St John’s Anglican Church, c/o 8th Ave and Church Street, Walmer, between 09:00 and 15:00.

The course will be run by Barrie Wilkins and Jill Sneesby, award-winning wildlife and nature photographers. Their travels have taken them beyond the borders of Southern Africa to inspiring places - most recently as featured presenters at PSA's 75th Anniversary Conference in West Yellowstone and on a trip of a lifetime - Ultimate Antarctica.

Barrie and Jill have been working together for more than twenty years. They have held a number of two man exhibitions and in 1989 they jointly published the book - Kalahari Safari. Both are multiple award winning photographers having won awards in competitions such as the Wildlife Photographer of the Year Competition in the UK (on seven occasions), the SA Science Lens Competition, Agfa Award, Fujifilm Getaway Awards and more.

They have run photographic workshops and courses in South Africa, Namibia and Botswana as well as further afield. These workshops cover many different aspects of photography from hands on practical shooting assistance to classroom theory. Now working totally in digital they also include full Photoshop work.

This course will introduce you to:
  • Digital photography - will cover topics such as the photographic glossary – ISO, Depth of Field, Aperture etc - what they mean and how they work; lighting, positioning, and timing – look at using light, design and composing images; and
  • the digital dark room – you have the shot on the camera, what next.

The cost of the course is R300 per person or R200 per scholar, which includes a light lunch. Each participant is welcome to forward a nature photo and Barrie or Jill will comment on the photos taken at the end of the course. The size of the photo should not be bigger than 1mb. Go on, register NOW!
